First half of the day is devoted to English lessons with a native speaker, three times a week. Lessons include story time, arts and crafts, songs, various games, as well as finger gymnastics and articulation exercises.
Children learn about the world through their own experiences; they find it difficult to understand abstract concepts. Therefore, during our lessons the teachers use the physical effect method - Total Physical Response. Story Time is usually presented by teachers along with the children. This particular activity introduces the theme of the week and new words.
It is very important to involve all kinds of memory - including motor skills - while studying new words. For example, for our “space” theme we would build a space ship, draw aliens, play space games, etc. Every day our creative teachers provide exciting and original crafts and activities, which keep our children interested in the theme of the week.
We learn new English songs for each theme. Phonemic hearing in children of this age is already well developed; therefore, they are capable of remembering and eagerly repeating rhymes and songs provided by the teacher.
The second half of the day is spent on sports, creative activities and games. Special time is provided for individual lessons with the speech therapist.
